On one Sunday evening, Big Sean showed the making of his Dark Sky Paradise album at NYU. The evenT was only promoted two days before to limited students via BSU and a frat. There was about a hundred people in a smaller auditorium. Right before its start the likable rapper emerged to introduce the film. I liked the inside look into the recording process that results in the songs we love to vibe to. There was so many cameos from Diddy to features like John Legend and Jhene Aiko . I loved the random commentary that results from hours spent in his home studio.
Afterwards, Big Sean talked about his process to become “finally famous” (I had to). He talked about the humbling journey of his career, his grandmother, and even a cute antedate on playing the album for the Carters including Blue Ivy!
We took a group selfie and I managed to get a quick snap before his whisked away. As he headed out the door, some people spit rhymes for him, but of course brought no samples after Sean asked for a CD. SMH I won’t put any names, but they could have at least scribbled down their Sound Cloud. I don’t know why I didn’t think for sure he’d be there. This was going on the same time as the Oscars and I was hesitant to miss the beginning, but it was thoroughly worth it.
Yes, I was cheesing mad hard, I was a tad excited. lol
